Press Release: Quality Control Checking Fixtures may have played a role in safety of Employee

Westland, Mich., Jan. 12, 2011 – In December of 2010 a building explosion, suspected to be caused by a natural gas leak, impacted the vehicle of a young man while he was driving not far from his home. The explosion sent his vehicle up to 8 feet in the air, crumpled the vehicles body, flattened the tires and shattered all the glass causing him to be rushed to the hospital for surgery due to his injurys. During this catastrophic event the vehicles airbags deployed, most likely helping to protect the young man from further devastation of the explosions impact.
It was an unbelievable event, that thankfully the young man survived, a young man that just happens to be one of our employees. The news of such an inconceivable event is hard to comprehend when it happens to someone you know and care about, someone that you see almost every day of the week. All of us at ArtCraft are extremely happy that he survived the ordeal and look forward to his return to normalcy.
An Interesting side to this story is that ArtCraft very likely manufactured the checking fixtures that were used for quality control gauging of the side curtain airbag diffuser tubes that were installed in his vehicle. If this is indeed the case then our employee was partially involved in the manufacture of the checking fixtures that were used. This is a remarkable set of circumstances given that in this incident, the deployment of the vehicles airbags most certainly helped to avoid further injury and may have saved his life.
